The work is not the work

One of my professors at Berklee told us this. The work is not the work. What he meant was that playing a gig or writing music for a game or film isn’t the work. The work of being a musician is finding gigs. Finding new gigs to play and write for is the work.

Spend your time doing the work of finding gigs. Find gigs to play or to write for or to arrange for.
