Isaac Asimov – writing time

I used to read a lot of books by Isaac Asimov, not just because we share the same name, and in a number of books of essays he would describe his writing process.

If you aren’t familiar with Isaac Asimov I suggest you skim through his Wikipedia article because you’ve likely read or seen a story that he’s written. He wrote The Bicentennial Man, iRobot, and the Foundation Series. He’s written somewhere around 400 books or something absolutely ridiculous.

And in one of his books he describes his writing process.

He’d wake up at 6:00am and sit at his typewriter writing from around 8:00am to somewhere around 10:00pm. He’d write constantly.

It’s no surprise then that he wrote so many books and could write so quickly and with such quality. He practiced it A LOT.

Imagine how much better you’d be at something if you tried practicing it that much.
